Gary Mark Gilmore. Born Dec 4th 1940. Delinquent. Artist. Murderer. Bastard grandchild of Harry Houdini. Died Jan 17th 1977. Shot through the heart and mouth by the state of Utah.
Utah, Summer 1976. Although the death penalty was on the statute books, no one had been executed for over 10 years. After such a long period, no one dared use it. Until Gary Gilmore, that is. Gary had spent more than half of his short life in jail. He fought for his death the way that others fight to stay alive. Gary became a bizarre celebrity.
In a new co-production between Sherman Cymru and new Cardiff based theatre company Give It a Name, Utah Blue is a fascinating look through the eyes of Gary Gilmore.
Cast includes Zoe Davies, Beth House, John Norton and Dean Rehman. Contains strong language.
