The latest theatre, dance and performance news

Saturday morning pictures redoux....

Saturday morning pictures redoux.... Remember those heady days of Saturday matinee entertainment? A few happy hours watching a children’s theatre show, or whiled away at ‘the pictures’, when granny could take the kids off for a couple of hours, spoil them with sweeties and periodically doze off after the interval, while mum and dad would have a bit of quality time …. doing the weekly shop?

Halcyon days indeed! And how refreshing to see those traditions re-emerging in the new Torch Theatre programme now that their Cinema facility is fully up and running.

The great thing about the Torch since its major rebuild is that it has two performance spaces – so they can be showing, for example, a film in one and a live show in another. This weekend is a perfect example, with all age groups being catered for…. a fantastic musical play for 5 – 7 year olds based on the well-known tale of Jack and the Beanstalk in the new Studio Theatre at 2.30pm while in the Main House, older children and families can enjoy the latest super hero film to be released!

Not only that, but the new Café Torch is open all day – and the Gallery is free to wander round …. so you could go in for your lunch and not emerge until teatime!

Theatr na n'Og celebrate their 25th year of producing delightful theatre for children and their production of Me, A Giant is immediately captivating, weaving three well known stories to create an adventure based on friendship and first impressions.

Me a Giant can be seen at the Torch Studio Theatre, Milford Haven on Saturday 3 May at 2.30pm whilst The Iron Man (Cert 12A), can be seen at 2.30, 5.15 and 7.45pm. To book seats, or for more information, call the Theatre Box Office on 01646 695267.
