Sleeping Beauty Cast Announced!

Sleeping Beauty Cast Announced! Staff at The Riverfront have been busy behind the scenes preparing for the 2008/9 panto and today, The Riverfront is excited to announce the cast of Sleeping Beauty with a photo shoot at the magical Tredeger House.

Once again The Riverfront join with The Hiss & Boo Company to bring back the unrivalled pantomime team that brought you last year’s hilarious Jack and the Beanstalk which sold almost 20,000 tickets and the unforgettable Cinderella and Dick Whittington pantomimes.

Can the irrepressible Brian Hibbard (Morgan the Bad) be any nastier than last year? – OH YES HE CAN! – Can our Fairy Blodwyn (Gillian Elisa) conjure up bigger and better spells than last year? Will our Princess (Jacquelyn Kent) be as beautiful as in every fairy tale – OH YES THEY WILL! Will Prince Cedric Lostalot (Michael Luxton) be as handsome in the flesh? OH YES HE WILL! Can Muddles (Andrew Beavis) be as silly as his name sounds? – Will his Mum, that dimpled dumpling of a delicious Dame (Phylip Harries) be as outrageous as ever? – YOU BET!

All is not well in the medieval court of King Daffyd (Ben Tyreman) and Queen Myfanwy (Alison Lloyd) when the nasty magician Morgan the Bad isn’t invited to the christening of the baby Princess Rose. Determined to get his revenge, he casts a spell upon her that she will die on her eighteenth birthday when she pricks her finger on a spinning wheel. The good Fairy Blodwyn is having none of this but the best her magic powers can do is to make her sleep for a hundred years. Into the fight of good versus evil enter our wonderful, wacky comedy characters of Nanny Thoroughgood, Muddles the Genial Jester and the lusty Prince Cedric Lostalot …so you can be sure of madcap mayhem to fight every obstacle in their path to ensure the Princess

Aurora (our very own Sleeping Beauty) is saved to live happily ever after with her handsome Prince.

With stunning sets, fabulous costumes, a host of comedy characters and a fun packed script with toe tapping tunes, you are promised a magical feast of family entertainment at sensible family prices. With lots of lively local lads and lasses as well: what more could you ask for?

Sleeping Beauty will run from Thursday 4 December until Saturday 3 January and Ticket prices range from £5 - £15.50 and are available now by calling 01633 656675 or by visiting www.newport.gov.uk/riverfront
