Edinburgh’s hottest pick comes to Cardiff

Edinburgh’s hottest pick comes to Cardiff From the dizzy heights of success at the Edinburgh Fringe to the New Theatre stage, the wonderfully inventive and spectacular Aluminum Show visits Cardiff as part of its first UK tour from 11 September.

With sold out shows and packed houses throughout its run at the Edinburgh Festival, where it premiered this year, The Aluminum Show wows audiences wherever it goes with its electrifying combination of puppetry, movement and special effects. Inanimate objects are brought to life by a skilful cast of dancers, acrobats and athletes. The fantasy unfolds and the metalwork stirs, morphing from shape to shape where cold metal tubes are turned into warm living creatures. Worms slither across the stage, huge metallic pillows float through the air, a giant stalks the auditorium and two pipes tenderly woo each other!

Wordless, the show is accompanied by an original soundtrack that moulds itself to the visuals. Embarking on its debut UK tour, this unique, fun and uplifting phenomenon will keep all ages enthralled. With feedback from Edinburgh Festival goers such as “great fun for adults and kids” and “the kids loved it so much they wrapped themselves in Aluminium for the walk home!” The Aluminum Show is a jaw-dropping spectacle for all the family.

The show was devised by Artistic Director Ilan Azriel, a former dancer in Tel Aviv’s Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. Since it was first performed at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem in 2003, The Aluminum Show has toured Argentina, Russia and Europe. This year it also opened the Macau Dance Festival and the Ankara Music Festival in Turkey. Greeted with wonder and delight wherever it travels, it is often likened to productions like Stomp and the Blue Man Group.
