Yet Another Fine Mess!

Yet Another Fine Mess! Brynaman based theatre company Mess Up The Mess have been selected to represent Wales in the prestigious UK Impetus Awards Showcase. The group learnt of their success during a lively ceremony organised by the Institute for Global Ethics UK Trust celebrating the work of young people across the country in their exploration of human rights and the shared ethical rights that underpin them.

At the National Botanic Gardens of Wales on Tuesday 15th July, schools and groups from across the country shared their work with each other and were presented with certificates by the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Keith Towler for the commendable effort to help raise awareness and promote human rights. Mess up the Mess received their award for two performance projects - 'Strangers', an International youth theatre project involving young people aged 13 to 25 from the Amman Valley, Slough and New Zealand, and 'a play in a day' project entitled 'Do You See What I See?/Wyt ti’n Gweld yr Un Peth?' supported by the Young Roots Heritage Lottery fund, Hidden Dragon Social Enterprise Fund, Communities First Trust Fund, Coalfields Regeneration Trust and CAVS Community Development Fund.

The Arts Council of Wales and Brecon Beacons Sustainable Development Fund are currently supporting the company's current bi-lingual theatre production 'Cadwr Cywir/Keeping it Real', the culmination of a month of workshops with young people in the Amman Valley and South Powys. The performances were staged at Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon on Wednesday 23rd July and at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre on Thursday 24th July and were very well received by audiences of all ages.

All the company's youth productions to date have been staged at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre and their innovative and highly successful work has been commended by the Chief Executive of Carmarthenshire County Council.

The company have now begun work on their summer youth music video project CFC/MVC, working closely with local young musician, Tom Hamer. The project will be funded by the Amman and Gwendraeth Young People’s Partnership, Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership and Amman Youth Forum. This project will culminate in a celebratory gig during September 2008. So watch this space!
