Thursday 25 September The Actor and the Text Led by Cian Marc Guest tutor Cian leads this practical acting session looking at a modern play as a basis on which to look at various acting and performance techniques. A fun, practical workshop delving into the process of truthful characterisation for the stage and beyond. Thursday 2 October Audition Practice Led by Jamie Lee A practical workshop that looks at all things to do with auditions. From how to find out about them, choosing the right audition material, preparation, audition technique and etiquette. A one stop shop for all your audition queries! Thursday 9 October/Thursday 16 October The Meisner Technique: Part 1/Part 2 Led by Jamie Lee# After the successful Meisner technique sessions from previous terms, we revisit this highly practical and incredibly useful set of modern acting techniques to help you become truthful on stage and screen. A great workshop for those who have and have not taken part in Mesiner sessions before. Please note: This is a two-part workshop, and you must sign up to both to take part. Thursday 23 October Improvisation Led by Jamie Lee A hands, on, fun and highly practical class that delves into the process of improvisation; the ability to “think on your feet”, to remain clearly in the moment during a performance and the skills required to create convincing, fresh and dynamic stage performances. A workshop that should be undertaken by all aspiring actors! PART TWO: Performance Practise You’ve learnt the skills so now let’s put them into practice! Please note: You must purchase all workshops in this block (7-12) to take part in the end of term showcase. Thursday 30 October Introduction to scene acting Led by Jamie Lee During this workshop we’ll be looking at the text(s) that will form the basis for the end of term showcase to an invited team of guest professionals. A great introduction to the text(s), characters, plot, and good practice to try out sight reading skills, and first rehearsals. Thursday 6 November Characterisation Led by Jamie Lee A session looking at the process of creating believable characters for the stage using hands-on techniques that you’ll be able to apply to a range of performance situations, and specifically within the scenes introduced during the previous week. Thursday 13 November/20th November Rehearsal techniques: Part 1 & 2 Led by Jamie Lee The first of a two-part series exploring a range of useful text rehearsal techniques. All practical in nature, these will provide you with a useful palette of useable techniques that you can apply to a whole range to of plays and other performances. Thursday 4 December Staging theatre Led by Jamie Lee An insightful workshop that will help you consider just how to best stage a piece of theatre. From tips on directing and blocking through to physical staging, audience-actor positioning and much more! A really useful workshop for budding actors and directors alike! Thursday 11th December Performance Showcase Led by Jamie Lee An opportunity to take part in a showcase of scenes prepared and rehearsed throughout the second half of the term, putting into practice all the skills learnt during it. The showcase will be attended by a team of industry professionals who will be on hand to offer feedback and advice on all things regarding performance and the profession.
