A new take on an old tale - National Youth Theatre of Wales

A new take on an old tale - National Youth Theatre of Wales With its new Artistic Director, Tim Baker, at the helm the National Youth Theatre of Wales takes on a task of mythic proportions this summer with a reworking of Wales’ oldest stories from the award-winning dramatist, Manon Eames.

The sixty young members of the National Youth Theatre of Wales 2008 have descended upon Aberystwyth for four weeks to create, rehearse and launch their 2008 production, Magnificent Myths of the Mabinogi, before embarking upon a ten-performance tour to venues in North and South Wales.

Working alongside Tim, Manon and a specially-selected, professional artistic team, forty-five of the Youth Theatre members will develop and hone their acting, movement and music skills, and fifteen members will concentrate upon design and production skills. Together as one team they will generate an ambitious, large-scale, bilingual production that, in true NYTW tradition, will thrill, excite and delight its audiences.

“Watching the students grow in confidence and ability over the four weeks is so exciting and rewarding. They never cease to amaze me with their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm, and I have no doubt that, with Tim’s guidance, they will have a fabulous time and put together a fantastic production”
