Frank returns to wish the Coliseum a happy 70th birthday!

Frank returns to wish the Coliseum a happy 70th birthday! Opening its doors for the first time in September 1938, the Coliseum Theatre reaches its seventieth birthday this month. Throughout it’s lifetime, this unique and influential building has greatly contributed to the arts scene in the valleys and beyond, with a programme of community events strengthening the relationship it has with its long standing amateur groups, plus a range of amazing professional performances, from The Stereophonics before they were signed, to comedians such as Rob Brydon in December last year.

The venue's longest running relationship with a professional partner is with Frank Vickery, the very popular playwright and actor. Frank's autumn production, Erogenous Zones, will be touring South Wales, including The New Theatre, Swansea Grand, Blackwood Miner's Institute and, of course, The Coliseum! Erogenous Zones stars Ian H Watkins (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Steps etc), and is directed by the award-winning director, Phil Clark.

This close relationship between Frank and The Coliseum continues, as Frank brings his dress rehearsal to the venue on Monday 29 September, the very month of the venue's 70th birthday! Erogenous Zones will then begin its tour of South Wales, returning to the Coliseum Theatre for a weeklong run from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 October at 7.30pm.
