![]() Married and mortgaged at 25, Wright looks at what it takes to be a proper grown-up in the 21st Century in his new show Man and Poet, using a combination of sharp comedy and his trademark poetry. Britain’s alternative laureate, Luke made his name as founder of live poetry Aisle 16 and then branched out on his coming runner-up in Slam Poets on BBC, the UK’s first televised poetry slam. Now a regular contributor to Radio 4’s Saturday Live, Luke has also written and starred in three one man shows, all of which have won five star reviews at the Edinburgh Festival and toured nationally. In 2007 Penguin published his first book, Who Writes This Crap?, co-authored with Joel Stickley, about all the rubbish – ads, spam, small print – that you read in one day rewritten. Luke has also been the host at The Poetry Arena at the Latitude Festival, the largest live poetry event in Europe. Luke Wright - Poet & Man will be at Sherman, Cardiff on Thursday 2 October, 8pm. Tickets are £10 (Reductions £8) and are available from the Sherman Box Office on 029 2064 6900 or online at www.shermancymru.co.uk |
