Ashes To Ashes
First presented by the Royal Court Theatre in London in September of 1996, Ashes to Ashes is a triumph of power and concision. In the living room of a pleasant house in a university town outside of London, Devlin, threatened by his wife Rebecca's recollections of an abusive ex-lover, questions her relentlessly in his need for a single truth. In her seamless blending of what she knows of violence with the wider violence of the world, Rebecca reveals an eerie communion with the dead victims of unnamed political barbarities

As Pinter get older..., his plays get shorter and more abstract--epiphanies both of grief and of the gulf between people..."Ashes to Ashes" throws the audience immediately into the middle of an intimate disturbing conversation: there are no explanations of what has come before or what will come after, just a mysterious moment that will be perpetually reinvented and expanded by the characters as the play unfolds.
New Yorker - John Lahr

Silence
Silence is universal; it is a comment, a verdict, rather, on the whole of life……..

In Silence, the smooth surface erupts into one of those bravura passages about ordinary matters for which Pinter has been famous for ever since his rhapsody on the Number 19 bus at Dalston Junction in The Caretaker.

It is so robustly acted, imaginatively directed and subtly lit in this production by the Welsh company that the piece almost takes on the quality of high art
