Arts Council of Wales made "mistakes" over it's dealings with the Wales Millennium Centre |
![]() Oct 10 2008 by David Williamson, Western Mail UP-TO-DATE records were not kept on the Wales Millennium Centre in case they could be accessed under the Freedom of Information Act, it was revealed yesterday. In a hearing in which the Assembly’s Audit Committee grilled senior culture figures, it also emerged that the Welsh Assembly Government pinned its hopes on private sector funding as the arts venue edged towards crisis. The revelations follow a damning Audit Office report earlier this month which said civil servants had failed to keep basic financial records of the WMC’s performance. It was also revealed that the decision to make the WMC a landmark world arts venue rather than a regional centre was not fully costed.
