The Waiting Room by the talented author, Caryl Lewis, is Cwmni Theatre Arad Goch’s community show this year. This is Caryl’s second play for Arad Goch. ‘The Spirit’ which was performed in 2005 proved to be very popular with young audiences and that is also the aim of this play. This play deals with people’s identity and the obstacles people have to face when trying to find out who they really are. This is a play about growing up, marriage break-up and coping with a sick parent. A play that questions our idea of ‘success’. A play that looks at how different individuals within one family can be. We follow the story of a brother who stars on stage, a sister who is waiting back home for her life to begin, and a mother who harbours a big secret that will transform all their lives forever. Sion, the young actor who leaves home to follow his dreams, is played by Ioan Gwyn from Talybont, Ceredigion and Mari Beard from Aberystwyth plays the part of Sara his sister, who has stayed at home to look after their mother. They are both young professional actors who work extremely well together and manage to hold the attention of the audience throughout the performance. |
