Cinderella Tale Retold

Cinderella Tale Retold

Sherman Cymru retell one of the greatest fairytales of all time at Blackwood Miners’ Institute on Saturday 22nd November at 11am & 1.30pm. Cinders is based on the story of Cinderella and uses music and puppetry to bring this well loved tale to life.

Children are transported into a magical world where they will meet four charming mischievous fairy folk, the Crimbils, who live at the bottom of the Cinder’s garden. The Crimbils must rescue Cinders from her evil Step Mother and nasty Ugly Sisters and get her to the ball on time to meet the Prince.

Cinders is written and directed by Louise Osborn, who has previously written for Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and is currently Associate Director with Hijinx Theatre. Louise comments:

“When I was writing Cinders, I thought about my own children when they were little and the stories that we had loved the best. When you are small the grown-ups determine your whole world and you are seldom part of any big decisions about changes in your life. My children had loved stories about funny, innocent characters overcoming the odds against injustices and betrayals - these are some of the essential ingredients that I’ve tried to build into our version of this magical old story.”

Cinders is specifically tailored for ages under 6. Children are invited into the set of the play, with the characters interacting with the audience.

Tickets cost £4.50 and are available from the Box Office on 01495 227206
