Protein Dance Company’s Dear Body at Aberystwyth Arts Centre |
On the 12th March 2009, Protein Dance Company’s tenth anniversary production Dear Body will be performed at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and we are looking for dancers from the local community interested in taking part. Dear Body premiered on the 7th October 2008 at The Corn Exchange in Brighton and will tour the UK from January to April 2009. Dear Body is a witty satire exploring our growing obsession with body care and body image, developing themes explored in the previous Protein Dance Company production B for Body, which won the Audience Vote and a place in the finals of the 2006 Place Prize. Dear Body combines innovative choreography, humour and the distinctive animation of award-winning filmmaker Rachel Davies. Dear Body is performed by professional dancers from the Protein Dance Company as well as an ensemble cast of amateurs drawn from local communities. This cast will include people of all body shapes and sizes over the age of 25, with or without previous performing or dancing experience. If you are interested in joining the cast for the Dear Body performance at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, a taster workshop with Luca Silvestrini, Protein Dance Company’s Artistic Director will be held at the Arts Centre on Saturday 22nd November, from 3pm until 6pm.
