Earthfall, the Cardiff-based physical theatre company, are off to Poland this month to restage their production of After The Birds as the prestigious Warsaw Festival, and at Bytom.After The Birds is a co-production with Theatr Chorea, a polish theatre company, based in Lodz, Poland, with whom Earthfall have a history of co-productions. After The Birds was last seen in Cardiff last year, at the Wales Millennium Centre, where it played for a two week run. Chorea and Earthfall pursue the collision between ancient Greek choral song, contemporary music and urban horeography with a highly physicalised choir and live music. The performance features a radical fusion of elements adapted from Aristophanes' comedy, The Birds. After The Birds first premiered in Wales in 2006 and has since been performed in Wales, England and mainland Europe. The production still receives interest from theatres across the world, and negotiations are currently taking place to perform the production in the USA and Greece in 2009/10. EARTHFALL ARE 20 IN 2009 In 2009, earthfall celebrate their 20th Birthday and will be performing in Cardiff at the Sherman Theatre in March, on the final tour of their current production, Gravitas. In autumn 2009, the company will be creating a new production which will also feature in the 20th Anniversary season. |
