![]() Following Alastair Darling’s announcement of a reduction in VAT from 17.5% to 15%, Sherman Cymru has decided to pass the reduction onto their customers. Director Chris Ricketts comments: “We’re pleased to have passed on the Government’s VAT reduction across all our ticket prices and we’ll keep that reduction in place until VAT is raised again at the end of 2009. The reduction will add up to many thousands of pounds over a full year, money that we know will be much needed within the communities of South Wales.” Sherman has just opened its main-stage Christmas show, The Snow Queen, which is directed by West End Director Anna Linstrum, and runs until 10 January. Cinders, the Christmas show for the younger children (ages 3 -6) has also returned to Sherman after touring community venues around Wales. Head of Marketing and Customer Relations, Haleh Tozer, comments: “As a parent myself, I know that every little helps, and we felt that as a lot of families may be feeling the pinch this Christmas, we should pass on the VAT reduction in our ticket prices. We know that for many families, the trip to see a Christmas production is a special tradition, and we’d hate for anyone to miss out.” The VAT reduction will also be applied to ticket prices for the 2009 Spring season which has recently gone on sale. The Spring programme includes world class dance companies, acclaimed comedians and a new production of Cardiff playwright Peter Gill’s play Small Change.
