We urge all members to come and see this work and support your fellow artists as they deliver an evening of stimulating, new experimental dance.
WID launched its annual choreographic development programme in April 1998 to support and facilitate the creation of new choreographic work. It provides successful applicants with three stages of development; Presentations, Work in Progress and New Work. The successful programme has grown over the years and has helped to build a number of careers including Tanja Råman,
Mr & Mrs Clark, Sandra Harnisch-Lacey and Eddie Ladd.
Roberta Jean
Cardiff born emerging artist, Roberta Jean, will present her new piece titled “Duel Passage” where she draws upon critical themes such as birth, war, death and disease. “Duel Passage” demonstrates a live motion portrait of human will and a physical dualism encapsulating power and fragility explored through a poetic body. States of fast strength are juxtaposed with sculptural off-kilter balances that suspend in time and space navigated through states of flux, growth and decay.
Bert Van Gorp
Eccentric Belgium choreographer, Bert Van Gorp, is an established artist known for his work with Sean Tuan John and is a regular performer with Carlson Dance Company. His new work, “Death by Admin”, draws attention to the repetition of the daily 9 to 5 cocoon. Using video projection and his trade mark humour Bert explores the dual personalities and behavioural traits expressed by people in working environments.
