![]() Twelfth Floor was created just before Liedke was killed in a road accident in August 2007 aged 29. She had been about to take up the prestigious position as Artistic Director of Sydney Dance Company. Previously she had been a leading dancer with Australian Dance Theatre and had toured the UK with DV8 Physical Theatre’s Just for Show. The tour of Twelfth Floor is being led by Liedtke’s partner in life and business, and the creative co-ordinator of her work, Sol Ulbrich. Twelfth Floor received spectacularly good reviews when it premiered in Liedtke’s adopted Australia in 2006 and went on to win two Australian Dance Awards - Outstanding Achievement in Choreography and Outstanding Female Dancer for Kristina Chan. Set in a mysterious institution, Twelfth Floor is a darkly funny physical exploration of human interactions in confinement. Five extraordinary performers – including alumni of Australian Dance Theatre and DV8 - play out shifting relationships of desire and power, of hope and despair. A rich mix of dance, theatre, movement, video and DJ Tr!p’s moody electronica makes a sophisticated and original work, shifting effortlessly from tender lyricism to brooding menace to explosive physicality. Twelfth Floor’s five dancers are Anton, Kristina Chan, Julian Crotti, Amelia McQueen and Paul White. Design is by Gaelle Mellis, lighting design by Gus Macdonald and video by Closer Productions. Dramaturgy is by Joshua Tyler. This tour of Twelfth Floor is presented by the Dance Touring Partnership. Tanja Liedtke’s Twelfth Floor is on at Sherman on 24 March 8pm. Tickets are £14, £12, Under 19s £8 (15% VAT rate will be applied when booking) and can be booked from Sherman’s Box Office on 029 2064 6900 or online at www.shermancymru.co.uk (no booking fee) |
