![]() Exuding all the style and spectacle of the MGM golden age, Singin’ in the Rain features some of the best loved comedy routines, dance numbers and songs ever written including Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh, Moses Supposes, You Were Meant for Me and the most famous song and dance number of them all, Singin in the Rain – accompanied by stunning special effects. The hit 1952 film starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds offered a comic depiction of Hollywood’s transition from silent films to ‘talkies’. In this brand new stage production Tim Flavin stars as Don Lockwood, a popular silent film star with humble roots as a singer, dancer, and stunt man who barely tolerates his shallow leading lady, Lina Lamont. The new Lockwood and Lamont film, The Dueling Cavalier, is converted into ‘a talkie’ however the production is beset with difficulties, by far the worst being Lina's comically grating voice. The Dueling Cavalier is turned into a musical called The Dancing Cavalier and Lina’s voice is dubbed with budding actress, and Don’s new love interest, Kathy Selden. On discovering this, Lina sets about sabbotaging the film. Tim Flavin recently starred as the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz in Brighton, which he also directed. He won an Olivier Award for his role on the West End production of On Your Toes and received Best Actor nominations for his parts in My One and Only and Crazy For You. His other musical credits include Kiss Me Kate, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, White Christmas, 42nd Street and Chicago in a long and distinguished career.
