![]() The five winning playwrights from the monthly ScriptSlams competing for the title of ScriptSlam Writer of the Year are… - Neil Bebber - Seven People. This is Neil’s first attempt at writing for the stage, but since winning in September 2008 has gone on to produce his play 'Magnets' at Chapter and is now involved in a new writing project at The Ustinov Theatre in Bath - Rhys Lloyd - Dead Dog. Rhys works for an independent TV production company and after trying his hand at presenting he ended up writing and producing comedy sketch show ‘Lolipop’ for S4C. Most recently he has worked with Terry 'Horrible Histories’ Deary on three entertainment series’ for Radio Wales. - Eloise Williams - Fiction. Eloise has been writing since 2006 and is currently studying for an MA in Creative and Media Writing at Swansea University. She had top three entries in The Welsh Poetry Competition 2007 and 2008 and Aber Undercurrents 2007, won the Marches Literary prize for poetry and has been published by Roundyhouse poetry magazine. - Rick Allden - The Devil’s Jig. Originally from Coventry, Rick has been writing and directing in Swansea and Cardiff for about 5 years. The Devil's Jig is purely and simply a comedy. - Natalie Stone - The Argument. Natalie is a second year English Literature student at Cardiff University. In the play, Natalie has explored both perspectives on the argument in order to emphasise the gender divide, and to highlight the selective nature of memory. ScriptSlam co-ordinator Branwen Davies comments: "Script Slam has been fantastic this year - a really varied and exciting mix of plays that have been highly entertaining. The standard has been high and I'm pleased at the mix of plays in the final - there is something to suit everyone. Let's hope the audience vote for the best play!" A total of 22 actors will be performing in the five plays including Phil Reed (Caerdydd) Elin Leyshon (Y Pris) and Ceri Mill (Tipyn o Stad). The plays will then be given feedback from the judging panel comprised of Sherman Cymru’s Literary Manager Sian Summers, established playwright Alan Harris and “Voice of the Street” Mike Salmon. The ScriptSlam Grand Final 2009 is on at Sherman on Wednesday 22 April 8pm.
