![]() Sir Jonathan Miller’s remarkable theatrical achievements began in 1960 when, along with Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Alan Bennett, he co-wrote and starred in Beyond the Fringe which went on to play for a year in London’s West End before moving on to Broadway for another 18 months. Also a qualified surgeon, many adults will remember him as the engaging man who brought popular science to the small screen with the introduction of the medical documentary, The Living Body. With no end to his talents, Sir Jonathan Miller’s BBC adaptation of Alice in Wonderland , remains fondly in our memories, yet the same man could turn his hand to direct a series of 12 Shakespeare plays for the BBC and eventually knighted seven years ago for services to the arts. Like all the best lecturers – the ones that students always remember fondly, and those who change people’s way of thinking forever, Jonathan Miller has a knack of engaging people. Renowned for being thought provoking, audiences may expect to become ‘curiouser and curiouser’ as subjects for discussion may include anything from why we always stare at the buttons in lifts, to celebrity obsession, DNA strings, early anthropology and Chekhov in a unique evening which allows plenty of time for questions from the audience. Sir Jonathan Miller can be seen at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven on Wednesday 20 May at 7.30pm.
