![]() Hijinx Theatre are renowned for their productions for people with learning disabilities and the community and are thrilled to be working with Glenys Evans on her latest piece for this audience. Hijinx and Glenys have worked together on many projects, the most recent being the highly successful tour of Full Circle in the spring of 2008. As a lecturer at the College of Further Education in Barry, where she works with people with learning disabilities, Glenys has many years experience of the issues and barriers they face. This play highlights a few of those obstacles and is all about inclusion and choices. Based on some of Glenys’ experiences, Chasing Rainbows is the story of Hayley – chosen as the face of inclusion – who is off to London to read her poem at a big conference. On her journey (on the 125 to Paddington), Hayley meets a pompous politician, loses her support worker and makes a new friend in the figure of Kit, a homeless street musician. A rollercoaster journey ensues as we see Hayley finding herself ‘included’ with somebody who is more excluded that she has ever been. As real life collides with theory and box ticking, what has Hayley learnt about choices and inclusion? Hijinx Theatre is one of the UK's leading small scale touring companies, with over twenty eight years experience of creating high quality theatre which is accessible, entertaining and challenging for small communities throughout Wales and England.
