Stick Piece is a kind of reversed interpretation of Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece, a durational performance where the audience realises the piece when asked to dress, or ‘create’ the performer with stickers. Every performance of Stick Piece is different depending on audience and location. It has been shown at OPA 0.2 (on performance art) (Athens), SPILL Festival of Performance (London), The Shunt (London) and at Metafex Festival (Liverpool). Sara Popowa uses body-based performances to enquire into human behaviour and to explore issues of intimacy and alienation. She has a degree in Dance and Visual Art from Brighton University and is a supported artist of the Basement, Brighton.
