Stop Messing About at the New Theatre

Stop Messing About at the New Theatre From Tuesday 2 – Saturday 6 February the New Theatre presents the hit stage version of the laugh-a-minute BBC radio show Stop Messing About.

Direct from the West End, Stop Messing About is set during a live radio recording. Packed with outrageously funny sketches, parodies and songs, which reunited Kenneth Williams with his Carry On co-star Joan Sims and Hugh Paddick, audiences are transported back to a time when comedy meant being funny, with scarcely a swear word in sight.

Meet Sir Inigo Parchmutter, known as the “Hanging Judge” for reasons we won’t go into, who feels that Legal Aid is a soft drink for Lawyers. See Joan Sims as a very, very short-sighted lady trying to pass her driving test in a fog of uncertainty. Hear The Kingston, Surbiton, Wimbledon and District Line Trio perform “The Ballad of Baldy O’Toole” complete with gestures. And join in the London to Brighton Ballroom Dancing Rally, avoiding the patch of Brylcreem on the B327.

This wonderfully entertaining show comes from the pens of comedy writing legends Johnnie Mortimer and Brian Cooke who were responsible for some of Britain’s best-loved sitcoms including; Man About The House, Robin’s Nest, Father Dear Father and George and Mildred.

Taking the role of Kenneth Williams is Robin Sebastian. Robin, who has received rave reviews for his portrayal of Williams’ waspish wit, played the same role in Round the Horne Revisted in the West End and on the National Tour. Robin’s television work includes My Family, Spooks and The Basil Brush Show.
