Theatr Powys bring Scarecrow to the Wyeside

Theatr Powys bring Scarecrow to the Wyeside Theatr Powys will present their brand new play at Wyeside Arts Centre on Saturday 30th January as part of their annual tour. Written for the Powys based Theatre Company by the innovative playwright Chris Cooper and directed by Ian Yeoman, Scarecrow will delight audiences of children and their families up and down Wales throughout January and February.

Theatr Powys is well-known throughout Wales for touring imaginative and thought provoking theatre for family audiences. Scarecrow is a warm and funny new play about being young and making sense, about finding friendship and the search for family.

Following critical and audience acclaim for 2009’s touring production of ‘Hand in Hand’ Theatr Powys commissioned Chris Cooper to write their new play for 2010. Set in a rural community in Wales and following 10 year old Wynne and her mis-matched group of friends, including the floppy old Scarecrow, the play offers a touching and amusing insight into the struggle to find a path through the cruelties and confusions of the adult world.

This is a unique company in our very own back-yard and a production to match the artistic values of any throughout the country. Suitable for children aged 6 and above and their families, Theatr Powys’ Scarecrow will be touring theatres, community centres offering a rare chance for primary or secondary school-age children to experience professional, powerful and contemporary theatre that is relevant to their own experiences of growing up.

Founded in 1972, Theatr Powys has built itself an enviable reputation for bringing quality, inspirational theatre to audiences in Wales and across the border, never compromising on entertainment value. For more information about this production, their work in schools or any of Theatr Powys’ other projects you can visit their website www.theatrpowys.co.uk or call on 01597 824444.

Scarecrow is recommended for all ages from 6 & up.
