MELLOW DRAMA TO MELODRAMA From mellow drama to melodrama, Rhondda Cynon Taff Cultural Services brand new act 8 Drama Season features a brilliant comedy, a classic thriller and a brand new production from National Theatre Wales.

At The Muni Arts Centre on Wednesday 17 February at 8.00pm is Morecambe – The Man Who Brought Us Sunshine – Direct from the West End, Bob Golding’s extraordinary portrayal commemorates the 25th anniversary of Eric Morecambe’s untimely final curtain, celebrating the wonderful life of Britain’s best loved comic. The production is a moving portrait of an affectionate lad with funny bones, a born entertainer and a big-hearted perfectionist. Morecambe is a must see for all fans of British classic comedy. Tickets £12.50.

National Theatre Wales is bringing their brand new production A Good Night Out In The Valleys to The Coliseum Theatre on Friday 26 March and Saturday 27 March at 7.30pm. Written by Alan Harris and directed by John E McGrath, National Theatre Wales have collected lots of home-grown stories from the public and transformed them into a laugh-out-loud night at the theatre starring Oliver Wood (Asbo in BBC TV’s Belonging) and Amy Starling (Nurse Spencer in BBC TV’s Belonging). It’s set at The Stute on a typical Saturday night, which means beer, the band, bingo and a raffle. The only trouble is Bad Bang has had a few too many to drink and won’t keep his hands of Sue, Dirty Sharon is making eyes at Shwni, Kyle arrives believing he is going to make things better and Con knows his time is up. Follow these colourful characters in this funny, moving and immediate new drama. Tickets £10.00 & £8.00.

Also returning to The Coliseum Theatre is The European Arts Company with their new production of Jekyll & Hyde on Thursday 22 April at 7.30pm. Experience if you dare this deliciously dark reinvention of the classic tale. Following on from the sunny Victoriana of ‘The Pickwick Papers’ European Arts is returning to the 19th Century and invites you on a trip down the smoggy, gas lit alleyways of London for this gothic shocker that is thrilling, gripping and highly entertaining. Tickets 12.00 & £9.00.
