Joseph Conrad, or Polish Joe as he was known by his fellow seamen, was once a resident of Cardiff and sailed regularly from Penarth Dock. English was his 3rd language.
In 1899 he wrote one of the most singularly influential novels in the English language: Heart of Darkness
It was an inspiration for T S Eliot, formed the basis of Apocalypse Now and is still contentious amongst academics worldwide.
This February a unique and brand new theatrical adaptation will premier in Cardiff
