A WARNING TO THE CURIOUS:TWO GHOST STORIES BY M R JAMES
|
Performed by Robert Lloyd Parry at LLANOVER HALL ARTS CENTRE, Canton, Cardiff. FEBRUARY 9TH, 7.30PM
"Storytelling at its finest . . ." The Stage
Back in Llanover Hall for a 4th time, the brilliant, eerie and spooky Nunkie Theatre.
A Warning to the Curious is the final instalment in Nunkie’s M R James trilogy, following the critically acclaimed A Pleasing Terror and the prize winning Oh, Whistle . .
"Sometimes, you know, you see him, and sometimes you don't, just as he pleases. I think: he's there, but he has some power over your eyes . . . he won't forgive me, I can tell that. And I was so happy a fortnight ago." He dropped into a chair, and I believe he began to cry . . .
In The Stalls of Barchester Cathedral a murderous cleric falls prey to an ancient curse, built into the very fabric of his church. It is paired here with one of James’ most poignant and personal works: A Warning to the Curious, in which a young archaeologist is haunted and hunted by the guardian of an ancient treasure. The English seaside has never looked so menacing.
A Warning to the Curious will be touring the UK in Winter 2009 and Spring 2010.
This performance is supported by the Arts Council of Wales' "Night Out" scheme.
Suitable for ages 13+. Tickets are £7 and £3.50 Concs. Tel: (029) 20 631144.
Performance lasts approx 100 minutes including interval.
