A SPELLBINDING PERFORMANCE THAT WILL LEAVE ITS TRACE ON YOU

A SPELLBINDING PERFORMANCE THAT WILL LEAVE ITS TRACE ON YOU Wales Millennium Centre challenges you to banish those winter blues with a high-octane, dynamic and spellbinding experience that will definitely leave its trace on you this spring.

Traces are a five-piece super-fit, skilled and sexy set of French-Canadian performers. They present incredible feats of daring circus; but there are no clowns, big top or animals in this performance. Crucially, there is no safety net either. Just raw bravery.

The group defy gravity with their unique brand of acrobatics. They throw themselves backwards through hoops stacked high on top of each other and leap mid air from one pole across to another.

Set in a bunker, the four men and one woman share their personal stories with the audience and test each others prowess with a warmth and camaraderie. They use several props to interpret their tales including skateboards, a basketball and an armchair. They are accompanied by a varied soundtrack, straight from their own music collection.

Traces is performed by a company called The 7 Fingers, who trained at Montreal’s prestigious École National de Cirque. The company have perfected their skills in circus schools and companies all over the world, including Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize.

Fiona Allan, Wales Millennium Centre’s Artistic Director said: ‘Traces is a thrilling piece of acrobatic and circus skill unlike anything seen at the Centre or in Wales before. They combine a fearlessness with breathtaking audacity and jaw-dropping skills. But there is also a gentler side to Traces – they perform with a lot of humour and have a great ability to tell a story.’

Traces will be at Wales Millennium Centre from 15-17March 2010. For a preview of what audiences can expect click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUIRCeQbdoQ
