VALLEYS IDOL 2010

VALLEYS IDOL 2010 HAVE you ever dreamed of winning an X-Factor style singing competition and becoming a huge star?

Well here’s the chance for gifted young singers in Blaenau Gwent to get their career on the road to success.

The Hospice of the Valleys has organised its successful Valleys Idol competition for the second year running, with some wonderful prizes for the winner.

First prize in last year’s competition was scooped by Tredegar teenager Kristian Morse, who wowed the audience of more than 200 people at the final in May with his amazing talent.

He won a voucher to record at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, where he recorded six songs, a voucher for professional promotional pictures at Sweet Pea Photography, a trophy and a DVD by Glyn Walters of his winning performance.

He and other finalists have also had the opportunity to perform in a series of Valleys Idol on Tour concerts in venues around Blaenau Gwent over the last few months.

They have also appeared on an Internet television/radio programme on BRFM.
Community Fundraiser Kevin Davidge said, “Not only have the prize winners gone onto bigger and better things since Valleys Idol 2009 but several of the finalists had offers to go professional and two of them turned professional last year – it’s amazing!”

This year’s Valleys Idol, the final of which will take place at Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre on September 18, is already on the lookout for local talent. Auditions will be held at Llanhilleth Institute on March 25, Kidz R Us in Tredegar on April 22 and at the Park Hotel in Waunlwyd on May 19, June 30 and July 14.

The entry fee is £5 and anyone who thinks they have got what it takes can enter the competition by picking up an entry form at any of the hospice’s charity shops, or telephoning 01495 712936/7.

Sixteen finalists will then battle it out in Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre on
September 18 and a guest singer will perform.

People of any age can take part in the competition and soloists and singing groups are all welcome. All profits from the event will go to the Hospice of the Valleys.
