2. Much Ado About Nothing (by William Shakespeare)
7 – 17 July 2010

War is over. The victorious Prince of Aragon, Don Pedro, returns from battle to the Italian town of Messina to enjoy the hospitality of the Governor and his family. Celebration and the threat of tragedy follow with a masquerade ball, a wedding, a revengeful villain, saucy maids, a funeral, a trial, clowns and of course two sets of lovers.

The ‘merry war’ between the two central characters, Beatrice and Benedick, lies at the heart of this play. Publicly they battle it out with acerbic wit and insults, privately they yearn for each other’s affection. But will true love run smooth?

3. HMS Pinafore (by Gilbert & Sullivan)
21 – 31 July 2010

“Give three cheers and one cheer more…”

…for lowly Able-Seaman Ralph Rackstraw is in love with Josephine, the Captain’s daughter! But there are serious social obstacles to overcome before he can marry the girl of his dreams.

Join us aboard the Pinafore as we sail the ocean blue with a familiar crew of Gilbertian eccentrics; there’s the First Lord of the Admiralty who has never actually been to sea and a Captain who is never seasick… well hardly ever. With Gilbert’s usual sharp wit and some of Sullivan’s most famous music, HMS Pinafore will be a nautical treat for everyone to enjoy.
