The A Team’s Faceman dons the rumpled raincoat to become Columbo! |
![]() In this very first Columbo story, the disheveled detective is called in to investigate when the wife of an eminent psychiatrist is found dead. Appearing to be absent-minded and having a somewhat unorthodox method of investigation disguises a razor-sharp mind which is ready to trap the murderer with the immortal line “Just one more thing…” Though it was on TV that Columbo, played by Peter Falk, became an iconic 20th century detective, the character started out as a stage character in this play. Now back on stage this is a unique opportunity to see the first ever outing of the scruffy sleuth who always got his man. Starring alongside Dirk Benedict will be British actor Patrick Ryecart, who has previously performed at the New Theatre in Donkey’s Years (2007) and An Ideal Husband (2001), and Karen Drury, best known for her role as Susannah Farnham in Brookside. This high quality drama showcases the genius of the Columbo character as he pits his wits against a master criminal is perfect entertainment for fans of cult US television and detective stories alike.
