***** CALL TO THEATRE MAKERS ACROSS EUROPE..A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW AND DEVELOP YOUR WORK AT A BRAND NEW INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL! ***** BE yourself BE surprised BE provoked BE theatre BE there BE Festival Birmingham European Theatre Festival 30 June – 3 July 2010 AE Harris, Birmingham Applications are now open to companies across Europe for the first ever BE Festival, which will take place over four days: 30 June – 3 July 2010. You can download the application form from our website. Applications, along with supporting video documentation, must be received by 5 PM on 30 April 2010. BE Festival will be an exhilarating exchange of live performance, workshops, discussion, celebration and new encounters. We will host 15 European companies who are developing work suitable for international touring. The festival will take place at AE Harris, a converted factory with a fantastic atmosphere in the heart of Birmingham, England’s second city. Companies are invited to apply with a piece no longer than 30 minutes in length, and which they would like to develop for future touring after the festival. We are looking for work that is accessible to audiences of multiple nationalities and backgrounds. The theme of the festival is ‘crossing borders’, and we encourage companies to bear this in mind when applying. The selected pieces will be programmed over four nights of public performance. One company will be awarded the £1500 1st Prize, as well as a full production of the winning piece at the Midlands Arts Centre in 2011. Accommodation, meals, workshops and a very warm welcome will be offered to all selected companies. We require, however, that companies fund their travel to the festival. We will be happy to provide proof of selected companies’ participation in the festival so that they can apply for travel funding.
