Dylan Thomas Grandson to present awards at One Act Festival

Dylan Thomas Grandson to present awards at One Act Festival Fittingly held at the Dylan Thomas Theatre in Swansea, the 2010 Glamorgan One Act Festival will welcome guest of honour writer Huw Dylan Ellis, grandson to the poet and playwright.

From Thursday 22 – Saturday 24 April 2010 starting each night at 7.30pm theatre companies from across the old Glamorgan counties will perform, in total, nine plays that range from comedy to costume to tragedy. Professional GODA adjudicator Ian Sarginson will judge the plays.

The Glamorgan One Act Festival is one of seven regional festivals taking place across Wales; they are all judged by Mr Sarginson. Only the six highest scoring plays will make it through to the Wales Final and from there, only one play will go on to represent Wales in the British Final Festival of One Act Plays Competition.

Teri McCarthy, Chair of Glamorgan Drama League and the Festival Committee said “The standard of plays is always very high and for the past five years the Glamorgan Festival has produced at least one Welsh Finalist. We are delighted that Huw will be joining us this year to present the winners’ trophies on the final night. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the plays whether for one or all three nights of the festival.”
