![]() As a consequence the Company’s Board of Directors have postponed the appointment of a new Artistic Director pending the outcome of the review in the Autumn. “With the recent departure of Cefin Roberts, after seven successful years as Artistic Director, the Board of Directors saw this is an opportunity to fully review the structure and activities of the Company to ensure that the Company continued to appeal to audiences for years to come,” said Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru Chair, Professor Ioan Williams. “This is an excellent time to plan ahead for an exciting and bright future as the company embarks on a new chapter in its development as an important part of the cultural life of Wales,” he added. Members of the review’s working party will be announced shortly before they instigate a series of consultations and discussions with interested parties all over Wales. Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru have also been in discussions with the Arts Council of Wales and the working party will report their findings to Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s Board of Directors in the Autumn. In the absence of a permanent Artistic Director individual projects will be allocated their own invited directors. The next production,“Dau. Un. Un. Dim” by Manon Wyn and “Yn Y Trên” by Saunders Lewis, will be directed by Betsan Llwyd and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s production in this year’s National Eisteddfod yn Ebbw Vale will be by Ed Thomas’ renowned Gwlad yr Addewid – a Welsh language translation by Sharon Morgan of House of America. The guest director will be announced soon. |
