THE AWARD-WINNING SHOW COMES TO WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE
Calendar Girls has become one of the fastest selling shows ever and has triumphed in the West End. And now it's coming back to Wales this summer.
With Welsh actress Ruth Madoc and Wales's very own national treasure, Margaret John as Lady Cravenshire, Calendar Girls is at Wales Millennium Centre for an extended two-week run from 27 July ' 7 August 2010.
A group of ordinary women, who do something extraordinary and spark a global phenomenon by persuading one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference. As interest snowballs, the Calendar Girls find themselves revealing more than they'd ever planned.
The cast also include Elaine C Smith, Denise Black, Jean Boht, Jennifer Ellison and Julia Hills with Bruno Langley as Lawrence the photographer and?? Joe McGann as John.
RUTH MADOC, best known for her role as Gladys Pugh in Hi-De-Hi has more recently been seen on our screens as Dafydd's mother in Little Britain.
MARGARET JOHN will play Lady Cravenshire. Margaret was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by BAFTA Cymru in 2009 and her most recent credits include Kinky Granny in A Bit of Tom Jones and Doris in Gavin and Stacey.
ELAINE C SMITH, one of the original West End cast, returns to Calendar Girls, this time playing the role of Chris. One of Scotland's most popular stars, Elaine is probably best known to audiences south of the border as Rab C Nesbitt's wife.
DENISE BLACK is best known as Denise Osbourne in Coronation Street as well as Hazel in Queer as Folk. JEAN BOHT has starred in numerous West End productions though is probably most well known for playing Nellie Boswell in Carla Lane's hugely popular comedy Bread. JENNIFER ELLISON's credits include Chicago and the award winning revival of Boeing Boeing in the West End as well as Meg Giry in the film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera.
JULIA HILLS who starred in the BBC's long running comedy 2 Point 4 Children, returns to Calendar Girls having appeared in the original West End production.
JOE McGANN, whose credits include the TV comedy The Upper Hand, plays John. BRUNO LANGLEY, who played Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street, plays Lawrence the photographer.
TIM FIRTH has adapted the screenplay of his smash hit Miramax film for the stage. The film was released in 2003 and was an instant hit at the box office, becoming the number one grossing film in the UK on its release.?? Tim's other credits include the films Blackball and Kinky Boots and the award winning Preston Front for the BBC. His theatre credits include the plays Neville's Island, The Safari Party, The Flint Street Nativity and the Olivier Award winning musical Our House. ''
