Innovative Gothic Shocker comes to Barry!

Innovative Gothic Shocker comes to Barry! The acclaimed international touring theatre troupe European Arts Company will be bringing their innovative, chilling, and highly entertaining reinvention of this classic tale to the Memorial Hall and Theatre on Saturday 22 May at 7.30pm.

Experience if you dare, the deliciously dark reinvention of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.

This adaptation is set in the Ten Bells Pub in Whitechapel, the only known connection to all the victims of Jack the Ripper. Here, a versatile ensemble cast will tell the gruesome story of Dr Jekyll and his charismatic alter-ego using only the things you would find in a pub.

Barrels, tankards, darts, brasses, bar stools, soda siphons, billiard cues, yards of ale and even Aunt Sally are used to create the physical world of Victorian London with great ingenuity, horror and imagination.

Set against the background of the Whitechapel murders (which caused the original London stage production to be cancelled) the show will explore the novel’s themes of morality, identity, duality and weird science in an energetic, physically inventive style.

A gothic shocker that’s thrilling, gripping and highly entertaining!

John O’Connor, the show’s Producer explains, ‘There has never been an adaptation quite like this. If you like gothic horror, classic drama, great acting and physical theatre you’ll love this show!’

The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, co-produced by Rhondda Cynon Taf Theatres, will be at the Memorial Hall and Theatre on Saturday 22 May, 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 and £8 for concessions and are available from the Box Office 01446 738622
