A group of bikers connected to the world of entertainment – THE FIRST NIGHT RIDERS – are to set off in June on a ride to raise money for The Theatrical Guild, one of the UK’s longest serving theatrical charities which offers support to those working backstage and front of house, and will be stopping of at Swansea’s Grand Theatre on 7th June as part of the venture
THE FIRST NIGHT RIDERS is the name given to a new motorcycle charity ride taking place for the first time in 2010 and organised on behalf of THE THEATRICAL GUILD by David and Brenda Edelstein who are undertaking a round Britain tour of new, interesting and historically significant theatres in the UK. The start and finish will be in London. All money raised from the ride will go to THE THEATRICAL GUILD.
The ride starts on Saturday 5 June 2010 at the National Theatre and the round Britain ride will take in theatres in Glyndebourne, Chichester, Sonning, Bath, Swansea, Liverpool, Bowness, Keswick, Glasgow, Newcastle, Richmond Yorks., Leicester, Stratford-upon-Avon. The Charity ride will finish at the Hampstead Theatre, London. On the 12th June
Each theatre will give the riders a tour of the venue, some hospitality and possibly tickets for a show. The ride is scheduled to finish on June 12, in time for the 2010 Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference, which opens the following day
The First Night Riders are visiting Swansea Grand Theatre on Monday 7th June and the Theatre on behalf of the City & County of Swansea, has offered the riders, who are all connected to the theatre industry, Actors, Directors, Theatre Consultants, Technicians, Lawyers and Accountants, from the UK, U.S.A. and Canada, lunch and a tour of the 113 year old theatre. |
