OPPORTUNITY FOR ASPIRING YOUNG ACTOR IN TORCH SUMMER SCHOOL LEADING ROLE

OPPORTUNITY FOR ASPIRING YOUNG ACTOR IN TORCH SUMMER SCHOOL LEADING ROLE An opportunity has arisen for an aspiring young actor to play a leading role in this year’s Torch Theatre Summer School production, Julia.

Toby Weatherburn, a student of Ysgol y Preseli who was originally cast in the role, recently received the news that he had won a coveted place at the National Youth Theatre – thus opening up an opportunity for someone else to follow in his footsteps.

Written and directed by the Torch’s Youth and Education Officer, Dave Ainsworth, Julia is the true story of Julia Stanley and how she met John Lennon’s father, as seen through the eyes of a group of Beatlemania girls. It was Julia who encouraged John to sing and play the guitar - a woman whose love for her child never diminished despite a long separation. Sadly, she was never to witness the extent of his fame.

The part which has come up for grabs is the role of John Lennon’s father. “I’m really thrilled for Toby…” said Dave “…but will we be able to find a strong candidate out there who is willing to take on this challenging role?”.

Following a campaign throughout Pembrokeshire’s senior schools earlier this year, Julia has already been fully cast. However if you think you are up to the challenge and you are male, in Year 11, 12 or 13 and available from August 11 until September 4 contact
