![]() This summer, Miracle Theatre Company tours an captivating outdoor version of Shakespeare’s timeless love story, Romeo & Juliet. Caerphilly residents can catch this special openair performance at Ty Penallta Council Headquarters in Tredomen on Thursday 10th June at 7.30pm. But this is no ordinary retelling of a classic tale. Known for its richly inventive and physical theatre, Miracle creates a totally original world where senses soar and humour is found in unexpected places. Miracle’s lovers inhabit a war-torn place where society is fiercely divided and everyone around them is blinded by conflict and hatred. “In this play Shakespeare describes the experience of first love with such accuracy, warmth and gentle humour that it rings as unbearably true today as it did 400 years ago,” says director Bill Scott. “At the same time there is no escaping the ironic view of human nature which Shakespeare achieves so effectively by setting his love story in a society traumatised by fear and loathing. Miracle’s challenge is to squeeze comedy and tragedy out of this story in equal measure.” Romeo & Juliet - Ty Penallta Council Headquarters, Tredomen – Thursday 10th June – 7.30pm. Tickets cost £18 with a picnic included or £10 for a ticket only. Call the Blackwood Miners’ Institute Box Office for tickets on 01495 227206 or book online at www.blackwoodminersinstitute.com |
