Local Reality Expo on…Market Place Local Reality Expo on…Market Place
by Clare Duffy

Performed by Lucy Ellinson.
Music composed and performed by James Williams

Lucy-in-the-sky has come down to earth with a bump. She’s on Market Place, outside Chapter Arts Centre, near her old home. She’s been away for a long time. Market Place hasn’t changed much, but it looks completely different. Lucy discovers the wonder and beauty in that green bin with red trim outside Easy Shop Lifestyle Express. She revels in the drama of the one-way system. She is captivated by the love of Julia and Tariq written in tippex on the third brick down, on the wall, on the corner of Market Road and Market Place. And makes friends with a local woman who knows how to use an iphone.

Market Place is beautiful. Chapter Arts Centre is extraordinary. But what is it like to be inside?

“exquisite moments of insight into the profound loneliness and occasional ecstasy of the human condition” Joyce Mcmillan on “Hope Street” at the Centre Contemporary Arts, Glasgow. The Scotsman 7.5.08
