Protest and hedonism in Earthfall’s The Factory

Protest and hedonism in Earthfall’s The Factory Earthfall’s new production tours this Autumn across Wales and the UK. The Factory is an explosion of hedonism and bacchanalian revelry from the 60’s Warholian lifestyle, reflected in the movement image and music of Earthfall’s talented cast.

DYNAMIC DANCE MUSIC AND FILM

Opening in Brecon at Theatr Brycheiniog, this new show based around Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory, explores the icons and identity of the sixties delving into the protest, creativity and dynamism that flowed from The Factory and its cultural explorations. Earthfall’s last production was described as:

“... wild, raw, outrageously sexy, utterly inebriated and remarkable ...”
The Independent (review of 2010 production, GIG)

This new production will follow in its footsteps, promising to be a thrilling and mesmerizing depiction of the ideas, icons and identities of life on East 47th Street, the home of The Silver Factory. The show will tour into Cardiff, WMC on the 22nd and 23rd November, before ending in Galeri, Caernarvon on the 27th.

‘I never wanted to be an artist, I wanted to be a Tap-Dancer’
Andy Warhol

The production studies the myths surrounding Andy Warhol and his alluring cast of friends. Warhol’s interest in dance and music was prevalent throughout his work and his relationships. This is reflected in the piece which explores these relationships through dynamic dance, music and film.

The show will tour the UK with performances throughout Wales and England in November before a further tour in the Spring. Choreographed by the company with Earthfall’s Artistic Directors Jessica Cohen and Jim Ennis and composed by two of the performers Sion Orgon and Frank Naughton.

UNIQUE DANCE SCREENING

This September, Cardiff will see the first of a series of unique one night screenings of Dance Shorts from Wales and the South West. Earthfall will host an evening of 6 shorts at Chapter Cinema 2 on Wednesday 22nd September, featuring films from Earthfall and Chris Forster, Chris Lewis Smith (Bath Spa), and Ruth Way and Russell Frampton (Plymouth Uni). The event will start at 6:15 with a post-screening discussion with the directors and producers. The series of Dance nights will then go on to Bath Spa in October and Plymouth in the new year.
