![]() NYTW is particularly excited about this year’s production in that it takes to the stage with a brand new work written by young people. No Other Day like Today is the result of many weekends’ work with NYTW Young Writers who contributed their voices, ideas, hopes and dreams to produce a challenging script for the members of NYTW 2010. Supported by award-winning writer, Manon Eames, and award-winning director, Tim Baker, this new play takes the audience on a journey through twenty-four hours in the life of an ordinary town in Wales, in summer 2010, as seen through the eyes of young people. “Ever since taking up the post of NYTW Artistic Director in 2008, it has been my fervent desire to hear the voices of young people on our national stage. This year, this dream has been fulfilled thanks to the amazing work of our Young Writers” Tim Baker, NYTW Artistic Director “Giving young people a voice through such a brilliant voicebox as theatre is inspiring” NYTW Young Writer The fictional inhabitants of the fictional village of Llanhynallallacarall – the dreamers, the schemers, the bitter and twisted, the benign, the beleaguered and the just plain barmy – have to get through one particular, summer Friday, one way or another …. With support from a fifteen-strong, professional artistic team, the Youth Theatre’s actors are developing their performing skills, whilst members of the backstage team are honing their design and production skills. Together, they are generating another ambitious, large-scale production that, in true NYTW tradition, will engage, enlighten and entertain its audiences. “The dedication and enthusiasm of our young people is second to none; they rise to every challenge we put before them, and contribute amazing energy and enthusiasm to every task.” Pauline Crossley – National Youth Arts Wales Diwrnod Heb Ei Debyg / No Other Day Like Today features both Welsh and English |
