Welsh dance artists Kylie Ann Smith, Jessie Brett and Joanna Young chosen for DANCE SHORTS – Wales’ newest commissioning initiative for dance in Wales.DANCE SHORTs A taste of new and exciting dance free in the foyer before this seasons dance performances at key venues across Wales. Dance Shorts is an opportunity for Welsh audiences to see10 minutes of fresh hot dance from emergent dance artists. Arrive 30 minutes before the main show to catch a stunning new Dance Short that’s sure to whet your appetite for the main event. DANCE SHORTS is a new partnership between venues and artists made possible with a grant from the Arts Council of Wales. Following its success in 2008 the initiative will commission three dance artists to create ten minutes of fresh and exciting dance performed free in the foyer 30 minutes before the main dance performance. These will take place at The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre, Wales Millennium Centre, Taliesin Arts Centre, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Park and Dare Theatre, Theatre Brycheiniog, Torch Theatre, Borough Theatre and Galeri Caernarfon between October 2010 and May 2011. The first dance artist selected to create work for DANCE SHORTS is Cardiff based Kylie Ann Smith, who presents ‘The first Aid Brigade’ an hilarious dance comedy. Watch out for the motley crew as they perform their first aid manoeuvres, bandaging and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation techniques on their unsuspecting patients!
