Singers needed for Welsh National Youth Opera World Première The Sleeper |
![]() WNYO has been established for over 10 years and has a renowned reputation for excellence; they are not just about opera but also perform musicals and specially commissioned works. In 2011 the Company is going to perform the world première of The Sleeper composed by Stephen Deazley with a libretto by Michael Symmons Roberts. WNYO is looking to recruit young people aged between 16 and 25 for this production opening in July 2011 staged in a secret site-specific location in Cardiff Bay. Auditions for talented young singers to join this highly regarded company will be held across Wales in November 2010. The successful candidates will then work in rehearsal with many experienced theatre professionals on the production team including new Music Director Tim Murray who is Music Director of Contemporary Opera specialists Tête à Tête and Director Pete Harris who has directed work for Glyndebourne Youth Opera, the Young Vic and National Youth Theatre amongst other companies. All auditions will consist of a group audition session where you will be asked to sing a song from memory and work dramatically as a group.
