WHATS ALL THE DRAMA?

WHATS ALL THE DRAMA? Rhondda Cynon Taff Cultural Services has a brand new season of amazing drama coming up from a classical play to a brand new play by Frank Vickery and also a topically updated classical comedy.

At The Muni Arts Centre on Saturday 6 November at 7.30pm presented by Black Rat Productions and Blackwood Miners Institute is the hilarious production of Bouncers written by John Godber. This topically updated, dynamic version of well-loved classic, featuring a brilliant cast of some of Wales’ finest comedy actors, led by Mike Doyle as Lucky Eric, is a non stop comedy feast. Meet Les, Judd, Ralph and Lucky Eric, the bouncers at a local nightclub, as they prepare for the onslaught of a Friday nights debauchery. Lads are on the pull, girls are on the razzle and the beer is flowing free. What follows is a theatrical treat as the fours bouncers play ALL the characters with hysterical consequences. Tickets cost £10.50

Also at The Muni Arts Centre on Tuesday 9 November to Saturday 13 November at 7.30pm and a matinee performance on Wednesday 10 November at 1.00pm is a brand new black comedy by Frank Vickery Barkin’. This tightly woven drama is a rich cocktail of pathos and humour, dark secrets and unrealised dreams. Stevie has lived all her life with her domineering mother and feels trapped by the responsibility of caring for her, while her seemingly carefree brother lives life to the full. Now has the day finally arrived when Stevie can, at last, experience the freedom she has yearned for? Or will she discover that things are not quite what they seem. Tickets cost £10.50, concessions £8.50, Special Offer 2 stalls tickets for £14.00 on Tuesday evening and matinee performance. Recommended for age 14 and over contains strong language.

Also returning to The Coliseum Theatre is London Classic Theatre and their production of The Caretaker on Friday 12 November at 7.30pm. Written by Harold Pinter this compelling story is about Davies an elderly drifter who is given shelter by the kind but vulnerable Aston. He quickly makes himself at home, but an uneasy peace is fractured by the arrival of Mick, as the shadows lengthen the three men reveal more about the past and themselves, a battle of wits begins that will have irrevocable consequences for them all. A landmark of Twentieth century theatre Pinter’s compelling study of loneliness and power games still has the capacity to amuse, shock and fascinate. Tickets cost £12.00, concessions £10.00. Recommended for ages 14 and over.
