![]() Fred Harvey-Love will commence as Technical Apprentice with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, the Welsh language national theatre, on 08 November 2010 for a fixed term period of 12 months. This is the first time ever that the Carmarthen based Company has appointed an apprentice. Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, together with Gorseinon College, is offering this opportunity for Fred to work towards a Modern Apprenticeship Level 2/3 qualification in ‘Technical Theatre: Rigging, Lighting and Sound’. Fred, who is 18 years old, comes from Cardiff and is an ex pupil of Radyr Comprehensive School in the City. He is passionate about theatre and the arts and in the past has worked as part of the crew on several theatre productions that include National Youth Theatre Wales productions. Fred said: “I am eagerly looking forward to working at Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru. During my 12 month period with the Company I will work as hard as I can in order to gain as much valuable experience as possible. I hope that this experience will assist me in securing an University place for the following year on a relevant course, that will eventually lead on to a career in the theatre.” Wyn Jones, Technical and Operational Manager at Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru said: “It is a great pleasure to offer this opportunity to a young, enthusiastic person like Fred. This apprenticeship is an important investment in the skills of the technicians of the future and in ensuring that Welsh language speakers have the opportunity to gain experience and to further develop their skills in the theatre.” |
