MARTYN GERAINT’S ALADDIN

MARTYN GERAINT’S ALADDIN
Well it's that time of the year and yes - it's Panto time again.

This year popular Welsh Children’s TV Presenter Martyn Geraint will be touring Wales with his new production of Aladdin (Martyn Geraint A'r Lamp Hudol).

Joining him on stage will be Twts his co-presenter from his pre-school S4C cookery show - Cegin Twts.

The humans joining Martyn on stage this year will be Ieuan Rhys. Following a popular run as dame last year Ieuan returns to panto with all his fun, wit and colourful frocks to play Widow Twankey. This is Ieuan's tenth season in Panto following successful runs with Hiss and Boo, Owen Money, Stan Stennett and the Cwmni Canol Y Ffordd Welsh language Panto.

Playing Ieuan’s son - Aladdin - will be Catherine Ayers. Catherine - soon to be seen in S4C’s Sunday night drama series Teulu - will be playing a role that is becoming extinct in the world of panto, that being the role of Principal Boy. But the company is proud to uphold the tradition of pantomime and guarantee that Catherine will bring that extra something to the role.

Last seen on stage wearing a frock, impersonating the Welsh singer Margaret Williams in Sherman Cymru’s ‘Llwyth’ Danny Greahan will be leaving the frock behind this time and turning very nasty as the evil Abanazer. This will be Danny’s second panto with Martyn and follows on from his run with Imagine last year at Porthcawl.

In every panto - along with the comedy, slapstick and singing there must be a love interest - and Aladdin always falls for the Princess. The Princess this year will be played by a talented young actress from Aberystwyth,. This will be Lisa Angharad’s first role after leaving Drama School in Manchester last summer.

The tour opens at The Muni in Pontypridd on November 24th and tours Wales - calling at Cardigan, Aberystwyth, Barry, Ystradgynlais, Millennium Centre Cardiff, Carmarthen, Rhosllanerchrugog, Harlech, Caernarfon, Pwllheli, Newtown, Brecon, Felinfach, Cwmbran, Blackwood, Newport, Porthcawl. The final night will be at Theatr Elli Llanelli on the 21st of January 2011.
