Sherman Cymru Launch the Publication of Two Festive Plays for Children |
![]() Cinders is a delightfully inventive new telling of a very old story. The mischievous fairy folk, the Crimbils, must rescue Cinders and get her to the ball in time to meet Prince Fraximus or else a nasty Ugly Sister might become Queen of all the land and then everything would be “topsy turvy, upsy downsy, horriple, horriple!!” In Plum (…and me, Will!), Will is in big trouble! Ever since the arrival of his stinky new baby sister, he keeps on losing his ‘tiger temper’ and in a fury he has broken Plum, his Mum’s very precious Christmas Tree Fairy. Will and the Plum fairy, who suddenly and quite fantastically comes to life, go on a magical quest where they encounter and overcome impossible obstacles, and learn all about themselves and what’s needed to be good friends. Sherman Cymru’s Associate Director, Arwel Gruffydd commented, “The publication of plays for children in the UK is something of a rarity, and Sherman Cymru is proud to extend our engagement with this age group by publishing these two enchanting festive plays. We hope they will not only act as a record of our achievements in relation to the work that we create for this age group but will also be a resource for those who seek to engage and entertain very young audiences in our schools and communities. They’re also a fun read!” The plays are on sale via Amazon and are also available at the Wales Millennium Centre during Sherman Cymru and Theatr Iolo’s run at the WMC of their 2010 co-production for the under sevens, Snow Child / Plentyn yr Eira.
