Diversions in Milford Haven

Diversions, the Dance Company of Wales, has been thrilling audiences with its performances across Wales and Ireland this Spring. Now it’s heading to Milford Haven for one night only with a triple bill of dance on Tuesday 26 February at 7.30pm.

Established eighteen years ago by Artistic Director Roy Campbell-Moore, the Company seeks to move and inspire its audiences with exciting and exuberant dance. To do this it commissions a rich and diverse repertoire from some of the world’s most exciting choreographers. When it comes to Milford Haven, Diversions will present a dance triple bill from Japan, Russian and Wales.

The performance kicks off with a brand new dance by Japanese choreographer, Shigehiro Ide, who is regarded in Japan as the leading choreographer of his generation. Unspoken Agreement flips between ironic humour and brutal honesty to weave a dance narrative out of closely observed human behaviour. With a wild mix of dance styles, Unspoken Agreement is funny, ironic and full of life.

Svadebka has been created by Russian choreographer Nikolai Ogryzkov. It’s a powerful dance featuring striking designs and set to the ferociously percussive music of Stravinsky. Inspired by the idea of marriage, the choreography has an unceasing, exhilarating energy, which sweeps the audience along in a glorious celebration of dance.

The repertoire is completed by Etch, the latest production by Artistic director Roy Campbell-Moore. Unconventional use of shadows cast on giant backdrops conjures a landscape of vivid silhouettes where the world inhabited by the dancers, and the epic world of the shadows, is not always the same.

Roy Campbell-Moore says, It’s great to be back in Milford Haven, and I’m especially delighted to be presented one of our most dramatic programmes yet. We’re really looking forward to bringing our work to new people and showing just how exciting and entertaining dance can be.

Tickets – priced at £9.00 (£700 discounts) are available to purchase from the box office on 01646 695 267.
